Josh: All right. Someone else’s info is appearing on my credit report. What do I do? Is this identity theft?

Samira: It might be identity theft and you may want file a police report. If you lost a wallet and suddenly this is happening, then yeah. It probably is identity theft but there’s other ways that people can steal your information. You may want to file a police report but definitely it’s fraudulent activity for the bureaus to keep that information on your credit reports when you send a dispute and say, “It’s not mine.” That’s where you have to sometimes sue and receive compensation and they’ll pay me in order to get your credit fixed.
